How to Care for Your Laser-Engraved Glassware

Your personalized glassware is made to be enjoyed. Here’s a practical guide to washing, drying and handling your EPICut laser-engraved glasses, including what to do if the frosted engraving looks uneven after washing. (Image byΒ AS Photography from Pixabay)

Is laser-engraved glassware dishwasher safe?

All EPICut glassware is dishwasher safe. For stemmed wine glasses and champagne flutes, follow your dishwasher’s instructions for stemware, including top-rack-only placement or a special stemware rack where specified. All other EPICut glasses are fully dishwasher safe.

Position glasses securely so they do not knock against one another during the cycle. Dishwasher-safe engraving does not make the glass itself unbreakable.

How to hand-wash your glasses

If you prefer washing by hand, use warm water, mild dish soap and a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge. Rinse thoroughly, then dry gently with a clean, soft cloth. Avoid abrasive pads and forceful scrubbing.

Support the bowl of a wine glass or champagne flute while cleaning it. Avoid twisting the bowl against the stem as you wash or dry.

What should the engraving look like?

Laser engraving removes the top layer of the material to create the design. On glass, the engraved area has a frosted appearance rather than a black, gold, silver or coloured finish. You can see examples in our Custom Engraved Glassware collection.

Why does the etch look blotchy after washing?

A blotchy appearance after washing can result from uneven drying. Wipe the engraved area with a damp cloth, then dry it by hand with a clean, soft cloth to help it look even again.

Everyday handling

Handle your glassware gently and avoid knocking rims or stems against hard surfaces. Leave space between glasses when storing them, and avoid sudden changes between very hot and cold temperatures. Do not use a glass that is chipped or cracked.
